Today is our final week in Ephesians. Ephesians 6:10-24 This week we move to how Paul encourages us to stand up to the temptation of the devil through the image of a heavily armored Roman soldier.

Today we turn to Ephesians 5:21-6:9 as we think about how the Spirit works in our relationships. One of the natural outcomes of being filled with the Spirit is that we look out for the good of others – a mutual submission to one another. We do this, remembering that Christ is the focal point of our faith, and all we do is for the glory of him.

As we look to Ephesians 5:15-20 we try to imagine what Paul meant when he said, “make the most of every opportunity.” The days in our lives are filled with time which allows a variety of tasks to be done, but what does it look like for us to make the most out of this time. What does it look like for us to live by the Spirit?

Paul continues to describe putting off the old life and putting on the new in Ephesians 5:3-14. Paul turns from talking about Jesus self-giving nature to the self-indulgent nature of the culture. We are called to expose the darkness by living as Children of the Light.

Ephesians 4:25-5:2 Last week we talked broadly about taking off the old practices in order to put on the new. This week, Paul gives us some practical examples of how we are to put on the new. Even though we respond by how we live this does not contribute to the salvation in which Christ paid for.

This week we continue our series on Ephesians as we move to chapter 4:17-24. Paul reminds the Gentile believers of the internal change God’s truth brings to their lives. Though the culture at that time worshiped other gods, the truth of Jesus is what reorients our lives. Our lives are characterized by a continual putting off of the old and putting on the new.

We continue our Series on Ephesians as we learn together to walk a life worthy of the call. Ephesians 4:7-16 shows us that Jesus gives all his followers grace and gifts. Sometimes we spend too much time trying to find our gift instead of focusing on being a gift.

In the first part of this series we “sat” in the work of Christ. Today in Ephesians 4:1-6 we move to a focus on walking in a manner worth of the call. Paul desires that the Ephesian Church do what it takes to remain in unity.

This week, we move to Ephesians 3:1-13. Paul describes how God has revealed the barrier-breaking, grace-giving, law-free gospel through Jesus Christ. The gospel gives us access to the father and causes us to be his messengers.

This week, we move Ephesians 2:11-22. Paul writes, once again using contrast, to show how Christ brings us from a place of distance to a place of nearness. In Christ, we go from places of hostility to peace. As Christ does this work he joins us together brick by brick into His dwelling.
